Sold all of my detectors around 15 years ago. Interested in getting back into the hobby. My hunting buddy & I both quit hunting close to 18 years ago. Luckily he kept his detectors. We decided to go out this Sunday afternoon. He loaned me his Fisher CZ7 Quicksilver to use. Had 3 or 4 days to get it ready. Battery packs corroded so it didn't want to power on. So my Dremel tool was used to clean all of the contact points. Finally got it to power on & start working. Then the nylon bolt holding the coil onto the shaft broke. Went to Home Depot & found a replacement bolt that was too long but with some spacers was able to get it to work. My buddies White's XLT screen was only wanting to show about 1/2 of a screen.
But we took off to an old spot that had produced before for us in years past. I spent time learning how to adjust the different settings on the CZ7. Did not find anything but trash but was beginning to get used to the CZ7. We took off to an old School site that was 12 miles down the road. Found one memorial at the school. A neighbor was watching us & after talking to him we got permission to hunt the yard around an old house. Too much dead brush in the yard but we hunted what we could. I found another memorial & a nickel before we left.
So we did not find anything to brag about this afternoon. But I enjoyed using his CZ7 & realized it seemed to be working ok. My buddy's XLT screen started back to working normally after using it all afternoon. This hunt was enough to get us back interested in getting out & digging again. So looking forward to our next outing...
