first opinion on 5.3" coil VS10x6

I like the 5.3 very much.

I spent 4 hours on a site with very little modern garbage(aluminum) buts lots of old garbage(iron&brass). The ground was super damp. We have had no shortage of rain lately.

I was able to tickle out a "44 penny at 10". No probelm along with a few other goodies. The coil ran very nicely and I actually preferred it to the 10x6, in this case. I felt that the TID numbers fluctuated less with the 5.3 coil. There is a bit of a depth loss but when hunting a spot this cluttered it gave me a better effective depth.

Also pinpointing is a lot easier for me....an inability to feel comfortable with pinpointing with a DD coil is purely my problem.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

I like them both. I've found the 6X10 to be superior in trash to the 9.5, but not to the 5.3. I also have the 4X6 which can be frustrating to use due to the smaller coverage, but it really does the job in extra heavy trash. I feel the good selection of different coils really adds to the versatility of the MXT, DFX, and the M6.

That little 5.3 is a magic coil on gold, I hunt nuggets and species but reckon it would have to be pretty hot on gold jewelry too. Funny its not listed as a gold prospecting coil when its so damn good at the job though!

Thanks Saiki. Good to hear you're not floating away and instead doing some hunting. I love the little 5.3" coil also. I used it once and I was hooked on it. It targets the coins in the trash and pinpoints to perfection. HH to all, Nancy
