First old coin with new Cortes

Malox

New member
Just out playing with my new to me Cortes with the small coil in my yard which is from the 1850's. I've hunted the yard with XLT's DFX's and a B/H time ranger. Also a 5900 Di Pro. So I was pleasantly surprised to hit this Indian at 4". It was in a iron infested area the larger coils on the other detectors didn't pick up. Very happy to find an older coin, 1888 Indian, with my new machine. Still needs to be cleaned.

Nice Indian. Speaks volumes about having a small coil for areas that are trashy.

Thanks guys,
To be fair to those other detectors, this is the first small coil I have tried on any detector. Maybe they all would have found it with a small coil, maybe not. But I am starting to really like this Tesoro. Just the lightness justifies having the thing for me. My shoulder bothers me in my old age.

What a great coin Malox!

I don't think you mentioned which coil size you were using...

Smaller coils are frequently superior to larger, as you know...

In addition, I feel the Tesoro is superior in separating quality targets from ferrous objects.

With that Cortes, your chances are excellent!
