First Night Hunt of the Year

New member
Went out after dark, back to the High School...Got all the way there to learn I left BOTH my headlamps at home...DOH...NO MERIT BADGE FOR YOU!!!...I had to stay near the lights so I could see my screen...I eventually just put the machine in Pro Coins and dug only good high tones (Cherry Picking)...The LED on the Pro Pointer came in handy, but wish they would have used the BRIGHT blue/white LEDS...I did manage over a buck for an hour and what I think is a candle holder part??? Any Ideas?

HH,

Do you do alot of night hunting GoGo? If one of my detectors had a back light I would give it a shot. Just take a pen light along for peepin' in the hole.I am really struggling with tones and what my detectors are tellin me. so much of it just sounds the same that i don't seem to be able to distinguish the differant sounds . I am color blind.wonder if you can be sond blind. everything just seems to be jarbled and undifferant. guess its just me. maybe I need to set my detector up then cover up the face so that I can't peak then start digging everything til I start understanding. Its kinda like when I was married and my wife would start talkin' my ear off and it all seemed to run to gether and I wasn't making heads or tales of it till she would screetch about was I listening to her . that would get my attention. But it wasn't like gettin a feint good signal between all the other noise, It was more like running your detector over a flattened out aluminum at about three inches done with the volume of your headphones maxed out:yikes:  . I joke about my ex alot but she was a good woman...........hope that gets me off the hook with any ladys reading this:unsure: best of luck to all.

You can be tone deaf...If the tones all sound the same, you might be...For me, the high tones are loud and stop you in your tracks if you have the volume up all the way...I like to hunt at night when I can in the summer...It is too hot during the day to go out...Just have to douse yourself in bug spray...The critters are not out yet, but soon...I usually use a headlamp on a headband, or a clip on cap light...Most of the time, noone bugs me at night...I notify my local PoPo of where I am going to be and explain what I am doing...that way they do not hassle me...They all know me by now, and leave me alone...
