First new lens review (huge files)

First, I know I could have made these files smaller but I chose not to so that the detail would not be lost. My first impression in that this is a well made lens. Next, it is very bright. I can shoot handheld without a flash in much lower light. And last, as you can see in the two photos below depth of field becomes more obvious than with any of my other lenses. Not that this is bad, it's just something new that I have to factor in. But the colors and crispness of this lens is great!

This is a shot at f1.4. The broad leaf plant just left of center is my focus point. As you can see anything more than a few inches away begins to blur.

This was shot at f2.0 from about 40 feet away. Again, even at f2.0 the shingles in front are somewhat blurred.
