I had a great time ....the MXT is sure a good sniffer.....used the Relic Mode, +2 sens, center trigger dual mode....
aint much it misses out there....including this 1841 W.H Harrison
political token/badges

I think you are going to see that the MXT is one one the best out there. My wife and myself too run the relic mode as we find this is where this detector works the best for us with the 2 tone audio.
Good luck and I hope to see some more great find posted by you.

Rick

I run it the same way and set the disc at 1.9 or 2. This just rejects nails. Rob

WTG Donny! Looks like your hunting a very old site. That 1841 political token is really cool. Just curious, what coil were you using on the MXT to find all these?

Hi ....it was my first hunt using the MXT ...I was using the stock 950 coil on this hunt ....I'm looking into getting a smaller one for trashy sites.....HH

The MXT is one fine machine!! I run in Relic Mode nearly all the time, especially for coins & jewelry. Usually trigger forward, disc 2, sens P. I use Prospecting Mode for relics, digging all non-ferrous signals and ignoring everything except iron % and VID number.

My little 5" Excelerator coil is a miracleworker in the trashy old dumpsite where I hunt a lot.

I bought a 5" concentric Excelerator from Kellyco. It works great at separating the signals in high-trash sites. It doesn't go really deep, about 6" is it's limit.

I went over an area I had "worked out" before with the 950 stock coil, and it was like a whole new site! I found 37 coins that I had missed in a back yard, mostly modern clad, but a couple silver dimes also. It pretty well eliminates iron "masking" of the good signals.

Some people say Kellyco is inconsistant in the quality of their coils, and I have found this to be true. The little coil is great, but I also bought a 14" Excelerator on eBay and it is good for a door-stop mostly. It only goes about 4". So I guess buying an Excelerator is kind of a crap-shoot sometimes.

Marc

is there a big difference between the excellerator and the other Whites small coils or small DD? performance wise that is?

I have owned or used several without a hitch. Not one bad smaller coil.

I was not too impressed with the 14" DD Excelerator except for hunting larger targets. Not good for coils. The 12" was better for coins, and the 10" DD was the best I found. Nicer feel than the stock 950, a little better depth, and very good ground handling.

The better 'mid-size' or 'standard-use' size Excelerator is the 4

Yes....I will AMEN that!!!

I've found more good stuff with that little 5" than with anything else I've ever used. My only gripe is it's depth ability. But then again, six inches for a 5" coil is not bad.

The 5" Excelerator for Minelab is great, too! And if anything, it appears to be a bit sturdier construction than the one for MXT. But I can't complain....I've done my best to wear that sucker out, and it STILL goes like the Energizer Bunny.
