Started writing this a couple of days ago, so not much to talk about. Here is my first months out using Minelab. Thanks to the ongoing post and questions answered by many users and by
"DIGGER" resource manual on this website. Does anyone have an idea what the big metal rod is used for, yeah i know fellers, keep it clean...I was thinking either a dumb wieght for a large window, a bell ringer, or something to hold train cars together. Unsure.. Anyone have an idea on the insulator, this is fairly large, still in good shape too. The photo with the bracelet is all bling, all sterling silver, the bracelet was origionally gold plated, but after a blast of sonication the flake came off and left the silver. It is stamped 925. Enjoy the photos. I have more photos just not enough time. Thanks for looking and happy hunting.

That's a great first month.

There's actually quite a bit more, just didn't have time to chop the photos yet.

littlenugget: A quarter at 5 inches. Most of the bling items were 1inch to 4 inches. The place were most of the items were found has a big issue with trash. Pop tabs and bottle tops, along with the wadded up aluminum foil, are the major issues. Then there are those little peices of can slaw, and just about every other type of metal except gold. Just haven't found any yet. There are targets just about every swing. I have to walk around for a bit to find an area in AM metal so i can ground ballance. I have to set the sensitivity to about 15, most of the area is or at least once was covered with gravel and over the years has packed in. I use a screw driver and a small hand shovel. If i only had a leache digger. I know the detection can go deeper because i have pulled out pop tabs at 7 inches and a silver dime at 6. The dime and pop tab were in an area not so trashy and i had the sens turned up to about 25.

Be careful out there diggin, I found the colt 45 bullet at about 2". I am hesitant to keep it, not sure if it could go off by accident or not. Maybe i can soak it in water then dry it in my oven:lol: What do others do when they find bullets like this? It is kind of corroded a bit. I'm going to wear my kevlar next time.

Nice assortment of finds. Not only shows your ability to use the detector, but also the variety of stuff buried in the soil. When I find unspent cartridges, I take them to either the local Police Station. It use to be quite a process to turn them in. Where, when, how, why etc. But I've done it so many times, they realize I'm simply turning in live rounds that could be hazardous to one's health. :stretcher: HH Randy

Your live rounds are normally not dangerous as long as properly cared for as I've never known of a live round going off accidentally other than through someone's deliberate actions. Live rounds do have to be kept away from children and fire under all circumstances, the primer end not struck by any blunt or pointed objects, nor have a live round fired in a gun by someone untrained in their use. I have found live rounds right next to fire pits which could be pretty scary if someone were to enlarge the fire pit.

Thanks, I think I will drop them off at the police station. I haven't introduced myself to them yet, other than the occasional "have any luck" run in. I really don't want the live rounds, i have a child and he gets into everything if you know what I mean. It's still really cool to find them but a little spooky. The other day i pulled two silver rings, one is marked 925 weighs about 6grams and is considered a lucky ring, it has the shamrock, lucky 13, rabbits foot, an elephant, and some other lucky symbols. I guess it wasn't that lucky for the person who lost it. The other silver ring is marked JJ inside a diamond next to the word sterling. The ring is from a jewerly designer Judith Jack, she does a lot of vintage reproductions from what i have found out. That ring weighed in at almost 8 grams. Both were found wihthin a foot from each other. I can't wait to go back. HH to all.
