I received my CTX on Tuesday but due to family responsibilities and my work schedule I wasn't able to get out until yesterday and that was only for an hour .
I stopped at a park I haven't hunted before and in less than ten sweeps I heard a nice 12 46 signal at four inches, and my first recovery ever with the CTX was a Standing Liberty Quarter (no date variety- is there any other).
What a nice way to christen my new CTX. I also found a bunch of clad practically on the surface and other modern coins at 1 to 3 inches including a Kennedy half. The older items, a forties wheat, and what may be a badly corroded Indian but just can't tell were at four to six.
I was using a partial GoneHunting Mode, I say partial because last night I realized I had a couple of settings "incorrect" so I am looking forward to going back to the park and go over the same areas again.
All in all like people say the balance of the machine is perfect, I will be selling my Swingy Thingy that I used for the longer hunts with the Etrac, Sorry Doc. The screen was easy to read in the sun through a Z%^&G screen cover, which covers the entire display. I bought one from Fleabay for the Ipad 2 for only thirteen dollars, and still had enough left over to do two cell phones with it... Those covers are amazing. Last night I was out in the backyard in the dark testing the updated setting and did experience a periodic split second bleed through of audio from the wireless module speaker instead of my headphones which are Uniprobe's, I will try it again today with the stock to see if the same thing happens
I am going to add to the software suggestions posting that I would also like to see a setting that would allow us to discriminate not only on Ferrous and Conductivity but depth...This is a feature I could see me using at parks like this where I would much rather not dig up the whole park to find a bunch of pocket change that some kid just threw out of his pocket last year... I would like to think of these surface coins as a replenishment program for future detectorists..
