First Minelab coins were worth the wait - field hunting in Indiana

I have only had my SE for a couple of weeks and have used it a few times. I was pretty sure I could find things with it, but when hunting a new area with great potential I tended to go with the detector I knew. Got to revisit a field yesterday and decided it was time for the SE. I was trailing behind the group, headed for a house site on a hill when I got a great signal. I noticed that the signal was good with the coil at least five inches off of the ground. I dug down seven inches flipped the dirt out of the hole and the target vanished. I figured I was a rookie and had made a mistake. Got the hole filled back in, started to take a step and saw the large green disc just lying there waiting on me to pick it up. The Indian was more conventional but still fun to find. We have snow today, but I am still toying with giving it a whirl.

That's awesome!!! Man I wish we could find old coins like that here in Texas...Congrats!!

I am around Muncie. My buddy had us hunting out around Ridgeville.
He does a really good job of finding spots where old houses stood.

Great finds on the old coins Don...............I've had the SE for a 2 or 3 years, it's been a great detector..................................John

GNILAEH.... there are tons of those IH around Indy. I moved from Fortville, close to Indy and field hunted a good bit at old home sites. Had some killer years of old silver and coppers. Muncie has some pretty good parks as well. There are several hunters in your area..... a couple of ole tiimers Larry and Lee do exceptionally well. Good find on the LC a lot of hunters dismiss the tone as a hot rock. The fields were about the only place i hunted in Ferr because of the old buttons and same copper stuff.

I love digging large cents. It took me nearly 30 years to find the first one. I just like the look and the feel of these huge green discs. I have one more hunt before the end of the year and it is prime territory for large cents. I have my fingers crossed, hope you are still able to get out. What a fantastic winter, so far.
