First May Hunt

I got to do something today that I haven't done in a very long time. Detect a brand new site! I always enjoy doing that, or so I remember. Weather was not cooperative. The temp was swinging wildly as it rained one minute, bright sun the next. Gale winds to dead calm. (There were some kite flyers there who were having a harder time than I was.) I had to put my fleece on about a half dozen times and I almost didn't bring it along. Lucky. I started in the bark chips and found 105 coins in 75 minutes. If I wasn't the first treasure hunter to ever visit there, I was the first in a long time. I detected for the next 2.75 hours in the grass and dug 97 more coins. Three one dollar coins which is the first time for that in one day. Not much else to speak of. The ring looks cool, but it's junk. I might have covered 2 or 3 percent of the place so it will be a good site for many years, I think. Sadly, it is too far from home to visit every weekend.

A funny story. These kids were following me for a while and we hit an area where there was a coin about every 3 steps. We dug a lot of coins in a very short time. I decided I needed a rest so I headed out across a big field. Only found about three coins in 20 minutes which gave my back a break. This little girl said, "Excuse me Mister, but shouldn't we be looking over there where all the treasure is?" I told her we were prospecting for new territory. She was a good helper and as I called out what I found, she would tell me how much money I had in my pocket. Fun day!
