First Infinium Hunt Gets First Coin For 2007

Got out this afternoon for a quick test of this new, totally different machine. I hit a couple of snow hills, and they were picked pretty clean. But the hunt was more to familiarize myself with the tones and other bells and whistles on this machine.

The results were as predicted, lots of junk and clad with the high-low signal, and very little with the low-high signal. The possibility of finding any silver coins or rings on a toboggan hill is just about zero. I air tested some other objects, and was pleased to see our one and two dollar coins fit in the low-high catagory, with the silver. :)

Todays hunt also marked my first coin , a newer dime for 2007

12 hour days through Thursday, then I'm on my 7 days off. Look out, maybe this will be the year I find mommies diamond ring:super:

John,

Nice to see you got the Infinium. I like all the red velcro or tape, that is the only way to go. I messed up my back and have been out of commission for about a month. You will enjoy it.

Too bad about your back. I hope you get your strength and mobility back soon. Using good body mechanics, metal detecting should actually strengthen your muscles related to your back! If you lived near-by, I'd send you over a 6 pack. :)

Good luck with your recovery

.. advancing the Disc. (pulse delay) dial, as well as removing some of the lower conductivity trash, will shift the two-tone 'break point' higher up on the conductivity scale.. to the point where loonies, toonies, quarters give off a high/low tone. A bit higher and so will silver dimes. You should still be able to get nickels and most rings. Also makes it easier to avoid large iron. ...Willy.

I have to spend a lot of time with this machine. Learning it in several inches of snow makes for a good challenge too! But....I'm up for the challenge. It's definitley a different machine then the Garrett Mark II Sea Hunter PI.

Willy,

I never use the discrimination. I will have to bench test some of my coins, jewlery and trash to find out were that 'break point' is. Thanks for another great Infinium tip.

.. upping the pulse delay (Disc.) is that you shouldn't lose any depth on the higher conductors.. unlike a conventional disc. When I had my Infinium, I advanced the disc. so that loonies & toonies gave a hi/lo tone. This allowed me to ignore the lo/hi targets and knocked out some of the lower conductive garbage. Sure, I lost some tiny/thin gold, but avoided digging a whole load of trash. This was also in an area that had a veritable carpet of nails. It did as good as my VLF detectors and, in some cases, much better. It really sucks to dig down 2 ft for an old starter case (with a VLF), whereas the Infinium would ID it as iron. ..Willy.

Yeah tweaking the PD can fine tune it to pretty well emit the signal you want on the target you want.

Wait till the snow melts off. :)

PS.
Did you get my card yet? I have a feeling it's lost or has been ripped off. Have had it happen more than once where postal employees will slice the envelope open and remove the contents, then deliver the empty envelope.
