Streak!

I like it. depth isnt quite what I'd hoped, but it gets VERY good target separation. Easy to use and very intuitive controls. If the preliminary tests in my hammered cellarholes is any indication, its very good in iron ridden sites. Light and well balanced too. Nice tight audio response, and I like the fact that I have a choice in the audio dept(number of toned and pitches). Audio is a bit busy, but I'm used to that :) :) The good targets are easy to distinguish thanks to the variable tones. I think I'm going to like this one. Streak!

Just curious, isn't that pretty decent depth to you?

compared to a lot of machines, yes. compared to my main machine, not really. My main machine gets the same target with the coil 4-5 inches off the ground. The 75 WILL get it, but I have to scrub the coil to get it. Actually, im my experience, thats pretty good for an ID machine. While I did say I had hoped it had gotten a bit better depth, the sheer depth of a machine is no indication of the overall performance of ANY machine. there are LOTS of other factors, some much more important than raw depth. The deepest machine on the planet isnt of much use if it has bad masking properties and poor target separation. The 75 seems to handle both those areas with ease. An added plus is a very good tone Id that allows the user to customize it to his/ her needs. I'm a BIG believer in the strengths of tone ID, having used it extensivly on a few whites machines. Some of the things on the 75 are fluff, but they may come in handy down the road. Time will tell. Overall, it seems to be a well thought out tool, and I'm looking forward to exploring it possibilities. Streak!

and I dont want to get into a peeing contest with anyone, so I'll email it to you. There are a couple here that know exactly what I normally use, so we will leave it at that.

First try all metal mood second try Jewl mood and third try DE mood with disc at 20 and manual ground bal a bit on the + side. Then see if it gets the depth you need if not what detector are you using?

with the exception of the disc setting. Mine was at 10. I usually rum the Gb a bit positive, but forexperimental purposes, I tried it sopt on, AND a bit positive. By the way, a spot on GB will get you more depth. Making it a little positive only serves to make the machine a bit quieter.

running it a hair negative when after dimes. I have not tried it yet but am a gonna. Your right Streak about running the GB spot on too!

or the DD that you are referring to on the quarter Streak?

You may see better depth over time...or when when you dig a drop of lead @ 10" :) My buddy saw a 16 on the inches meter pinpointing the other day. There are other folks out there that think it's deeper than many of the non-ID units like the Nauty's, etc. You can go to another forum, if not BFL, and see the once stubborn tejon crowd now saying it's deeper (I would never have believed that in a million years!) ;) Personally, to get the most depth, I run the excellent all metal mode very "hot" with some threshold (some like to dial down the thresh some to say -2 or -3 to lessen the "noise"). I listen for little wispers and dig anything 15+ I see/hear. Even iffy 1 way signals. Often I whip fast over the deep item for a better ID #. This is allowing me to pull lots of deepies from sites I thought were hunted out. For those that prefer disc mode, JE is the way to go for depth but it will be more chattery as a trade off.....

Bill
