First Impressions with my Fisher F75

Received my Stock from my Distributor yesterday. I've heard lots of positives about the Fisher F75. In the past, having worked with the project engineer, Dave Johnson on the White's MXT before Dave moved on to First Texas I too had great expectations for the F75 and respect Dave's Engineering Knowledge.

The F75 is Lightweight and Balanced almost perfectly. Since I favor Gold Jewelry, I opted for the Coin and Jewelry Mode.

In this mode, it is my understanding after speed reading the manual, that the internal gain or pre-amps are operating at a higher level over the standard DE mode. I was also impressed with the variations in Tone ID, unmatched by any other model. I opted for the 3H in which I could hear the deep Iron, Low and Mid NON-Ferrous with a HIGH tone like the dime and quarter going to the Nickel (Gold Wedding Band).

Why Accept Iron? In the White's and Minelab Detectors, a Deep Coin in mineralization can go to the extreme non-ferrous plus side and then wrap around to the extreme iron or ferrous side. The F75 takes it a step further and has an iron content reading I don't fully understand yet off on the right side, IN ADDITION to a Confidence Level. So too, I love that On the Fly Target Depth coupled with the Static Pin Point Depth Reading. Geez, just typing about this, I can't wait to get out today and its almost 1730 hrs.

Over my 11" Penny @ Sun Fish Park, the F75 had no problem hearing it with very good visual target ID.

Sunset was about 45 minutes away. I was impressed on the Target Separation and Speed of Response. The Visual Target ID was spot on with good lock on target characteristics.

Sun Fish Park has been used by me for Training my customers since 1983. I have personally hunted it since 1980. In lieu of that and the sinking sun, I was astounded at the number of targets I was hitting which were at over 10" from the tip of the grass. These were targets that registered in the high teens to 30s and I chose to ignore them because I was limited in my tools and sunshine.

As I wandered over to the Bark playground, I popped a couple of coins.
Since I was getting closer to a Power Line Junction Box, the F75 started to react so I lowered the Sensitivity from 40 to 24 and it settled down. There was not too much stuff and I was about to call it a day when I decided to reduce the F75 down to 7 on the sensitivity. I was just about out of the bark area when I heard a soft modulated target response which ID'd in the high teens. I started moving the bark and at the 6" Level checked the pile... NADA. Hmmm.... moving the DD Loop vertically, I stuck it down in the hole and could hear the target. I had to take almost a foot out before I uncovered what was a thick 1/2 dime size piece of aluminum folded so it almost looked like a gold nugget.

Last night, my associate dealer, Larry from Big Valley Called me and mentioned a post by one of my mentor's Andy Sabisch. I tried to find it unsuccessfully before I realized that my Coffee Counselor, Tinfoil may have deleted it.

I understand like any MFG, First Texas-Fisher have spent a ton of money developing the T2 and now F75, and what we don't need is someone to FLAME a new model with little or no experience. Although I've had experience with 100s of models and can get a good sense of things, my experience with the F75 and T3 is Extremely Limited and what saves me is in fact my experience and ability to tune the Detectors for best results.

Remember, I spent a significant amount of time with Dave Johnson in developing the White's MXT which initially found it to react Haywire in certain difficult ground conditions. Through Communication, the process of refining that detector resulted in one of White's Most Popular Detectors. One of the issues I talked with Dave about was the ability to have a lot of resolution in the Sensitivity or Signal Balance Control. The F75 indeed has accompolished that along with some unique features some of which are I talked about in this topic.

The Fisher F75 is absolutely one of the Deepest of the VLFs with so much Gain on Board. I spoke briefly to Andy today and concluded that he was trying to run his Fisher F75 HOTTER than it should. Like myself, Andy, a professional, has to get used to the language of the F75 and optimizing the tuning properly for best depth. When you open the F75 Box there is a warning that this is the MOST sensitive detector on the market... so take CARE in adjusting the sensitivity correctly for the given NOISE conditions.

When you can NEUTRALIZE the factors such as NOISE from power lines, soil conditions and edge target effect from trash, by creating a quieter environment, your HIGHLY sensitive F75 is going to punch down deep without the need for HIGH Gain Settings.

Larry @ Big Valley located an Eraser Tip at almost 12" in a park he had hunted with his Explorer II/SE many times... which gave the Minelab Detectors fits.

From a professional point of view, Larry and I feel that the F75 has some excellent unique features going for it including the GRAB Button, Ability to Tweak the Balance Point, Feel, Outstanding FAST Filters, 13 kHz sensitivity on Coins and Especially Gold and Chains.

It has the Visual Discrimination Resolution of a White's M6, MXT and the Speed of Target response of the Tesoros.

What was really super was as I walked past the Bark area back to the grass on the way out, still scanning for targets, I glanced down.... WOW... that Back Lit Display was second to NONE!!!!!

Can't wait to get it out today locally with my plugging tools and an electronic pin pointer (Uni-Probe). Yes... I too would like to see Ralph at Sun Ray develope an FX-1 for Fisher's NEWEST Flagship Unit.

Well, maybe I'll grab a late afternoon cup of java with sweet and low for a pick me up even though Tinfoil tells me sweet and low is 'bad for yer.'

What a sensible read by au4greg. This post oozes "knowledge".
You can tell here is a man who understands and properly knows what he`s talking about when it comes to detectors. I wish all posts were like this. A very good post indeed.:clapping:
