First Impressions on the 250

Well, the Brown Truck came and left my little 250. Rain cleared out so I headed for the park for a short test run. Let me preface the following comments, by saying these are impressions after only an hours use under poor conditions and are subject to change.
It is light and easy on the arm. The display is nice and clear. Belltones on zinc and copper pennies. Pinpoints fairly well(Need more practice with it, not as easy as the 1250, 1500, 2500). Same coil connectors as my GTAx coils.
I don't really like the headphones plugging in the front of the housing. Had to hold the wire in my hand on the grip to keep it out of the way. No volume control. It was really loud!! Will try it today with headphones that have volume control. Talks to my Vibra probe if the get within 3 ft. of each other. Bell tones if you get within 2 feet of large metal objects(Was working next to a sidewalk with steel in it, could not get close)
I did enjoy it, though. Will be a nice little machine to keep in the car or office for little noon hunts and is definately a good entry level machine. I won't be selling my other Garretts anytime soon though.

The coil is super sensitive and pinpointing is a breeze. Just move the coil side to side until you get the strongest signal then drag it straight back until the instant the signal stops. Also watch the signal intensity when the blocks line up all the way across the top of the display. The target will be right under the center of the front tip of the inside coil. It's dead on.

I'm thinking I had the Sens. too high. Was using it at the Factory default in a REAL trashy area(buried junk from construction). Am going out at lunch and back that sens. down. I'm used to that type of coil, been using the 7x10 since they came out. Just need to get the little 250 smoothed out some and spend a little more time with it and I'm sure I'll become as comfortable with it as the rest of my Garretts.

Yeah the sensitivity is hot on this one. If you run it full bore with any trash around it will go nuts. It is extremely sensitive to pennies.
I hunted a hammered park just up the street from me this afternoon for an hour or so and dug a ton of pennies that have laid there forever. All were 5-6 inches down and almost black they have been in the ground for so long. And I was running the sensitivity at 50%.
