Just received AT Pro tonight.
I really like the way the detector looks and feels. It swings really nice and feels good in my hands. I was looking for a professional detector and I feel I got one.
First time I turned it on, it was very chatty. My daughter commented, "why is it making so much noise". I think it was picking up every nail, screw and iron holding my house together. I am also guessing that I was getting some electrical interference. Next time I need to remember to remove my watch and wedding ring before attempting air tests....whoops.
I took it outside in the dark and poked around the lawn, but my german shepherd has chewed up about 100 tin foil pans and containers, so the AT Pro was howling.
It would be nice to have a backlit display, but I suppose that would eat at the batteries. I also wouldn't mind if the display was a little bigger to make it easier on the eyes. I couldn't understand why people were having so much trouble with the coil and headphone connection......until I tried to put it on! It was a little tricky. I am sure after I do it a few times it will get second nature, but the first time was a little challenging. I didn't want to force it and bend the connectors so I was being overly cautious.
Something that I will have to get used to is all the different audio. I am used to the simply Bounty Hunter. The AT Pro gives a lot of feedback. It's kind of like looking at an x-ray for the first time.....it's hard to know what your looking at until your eye is trained. I am really excited to try it down at the beach house this weekend. I was not picking up any targets the last two trips with the bounty hunter....so I am anxious to see what happens with a pro detector. I'll be searching the beach at the end of Christopher Street, for those familiar with Duck, NC. There's got to be something down there!
I'll let you know.
