First Impressions GTI 2500

Watched the DVD, hit the test garden, then off to my favorite coin spot. Not as overwhelmed as I thought I would be but I can see it is going to take some practice. The menus are really easy to navigate and to figure out. It is heavy but I was forewarned about that. Plan a longer hunt tomorrow and I'll mount the battery pack on my hip and that should help. The pinpoint button stuck on me a couple of times. Have to be careful about that. I dug a lot more junk than I would have with the 250 but I'm digging everything for a while so just when I thought I was done with zinc pennies here they come again. After imaging I guessed correctly on about half of what I dug. Had some kids and their father following me and they were amazed as usual. Fourth thing I dug was the bracelet. It's the four dwarfs. Couldn't find the other three. Was hoping it was sterling but it looks like silver plate. I wouldn't have found it with the Ace 250. I guess the deepest coin I found was about 6-8 inches and it was a zincer. It really sounded off! Pennies seem to hit all over the place. I'll have to study on that some. Also many dimes hit on the penny notch and registered as size A. Really thought I had a silver dime. How a clad dime came out from that depth with a lot of luster is a mystery. I thought it might have been stuck to another coin but I couldn't find it if it was there. Also thought I had a ring but it was a Budweiser screw top.

All in all 2 hours and 30 minutes. About half an hour of that in the test garden. 32 coins for $3.41. Would have been a bit better without the kids tagging along but they were good kids and really interested. They gave me some good tips about their school. Where the recess action is etc....

Tips appreciated. I figure I have a good week or two of stumbling around.

The lower rod on the machine acts like the end of a leaver, with the fulcrum being the elbow. The longer the rod is and the further your hand is from your body, the greater the amount of force (leverage) it exerts on your elbow and shoulder. So, shorten your rod so your swings are not too wide, and maintain a good posture standing straight. This will also keep stress off your lower back and shoulders, two typical weak spots on our body. Now keep your arm tucked in as close to your body, with your biceps and triceps against your rib cage, and turn at the hips slightly with your swings. I tried this method with the GTI 2500, and really had no issues with weight after several hours.

And....don't swing too fast. This can cause injuries to your muscles. Relax, the coins are weighting for you, not the other way around :)
