First impression with 14" Excelerator

Hi Everybody
I just received a 14" Excelerator search coil and took it for a little test drive on my MXT. I went outside to an area that is free of any targets and laid some coins and other goodies on top of the ground. I used all modes with no disc.
The instructions state to use the relic mode, but I found that the prospect mode was more stable and achieved greater depth by two to three inches on half dollars. 15 inches
Any information or comments will be welcomed.

when faced with the challenge of working a wide-open site. I have used all three modes, depending upon the environmet, but prefer to use the Relic mode.

Hi Steve
I am not sure on the exact weight of the 14" Excelerator coil, but it does not feel that much heaver that the stock 9.5 coil.
I am planning a hunting trip tommorow near Prescott, AZ and I will give the 14 incher a good work out at some old sites. I have only played with it around the house, my better half has required my services to prepare for entertaining guest for next week end and I have been busy.
I have noticed that my MXT appears unstable in the C & J and relic mode using the 14" Excelerator, but runs smooth as silk in the prospect mode even with + gain settings. Now that it is cooling off in the desert I eager to hit the gold fields with this big bad boy in search of old YELLER. HH Tom B

I used it and found the best way to use it was turn the Threshold way OFF. there was no depth lose and it ran smoother. I used relic mode.

This is my first experience with the 14" Excelerator, how deep where you hitting targets. I have read alot of older post where people were having good results. I will be using mine to hunt old home sites, ghost towns, and gold nuggets in the Bradshaw Mountians. I am hoping to gain about three inches over the stock 9.5 coil. TB
