First hunt with the V3 on video

Picked up a V3 from Diggin Jimmy. Thought I would film my first outing with it. There will be a part 2 also when I get time.

Good video Bill, you had some tough digging, but nice rewards for you efforts. .

Hard dry ground and first time out super. Don't even have the upgrade either.

Jimmy,

Great video. Couple thoughts:

When I got started back in March I did so with a Pistol Probe. That is a great deep seeking probe, but it does like to signal on items at the tip OR around the barrel. I would start with a 4" D shaped hole after I cut the flap and would often end up with a nearly 10" D hole twice as deep as when I started. The probe would signal a target deeper and I would dig and dig only to find out it was actually deeper into in the side of the hole,, not the bottom. I found the probe was an excellent pin pointer for relic hunting, but for finer target shooting it was difficult to use. I loved the depth but it drove me nuts. I now have and Sunray DX-1 in-line probe. It has helped improve my recovery speed, but it does not have the depth advantage that the Pistol Probe had.And another big advantage is, I can leave my headphones on when pin pointing because it uses the detector circuity toy pinpoint.

The other point with be.....I noticed when you hit your targets in the video the signal jumped around quite a bit. You may want to try a new ground balance after digging the target to see if that behavior changes. I have noticed that when my ground balance is off I have that same issue. But when I re-ground balance the signal range tightens up. Not all the time because there are so many factors that influence the target reading, but more often than not.

I hope this helps, but you are off to an incredible start already and it only gets better with a V3.

Happy finds,

The Shark

I think some of the jumpy target ID is caused by holding the camera with one hand and trying to swing over the target with the other. Its hard to keep the detector centered over the target and film the display too. I could be wrong about that and will check next time I am not using the camera and will try your suggestions. Thanks.

Good finds and the video was very good. The V3 was sounding good
