First hunt with the Stealth X-5

I like it!

First spot was in a very trashy and old park in a spot that I had previously hunted with my AT-Pro and the E-Trac with the stock coil. Cranked the manual sens up to 28 and hit targets in the trash I'd missed before. All modern coinage from the 70's but it's showing what it can do. One Rosie was laying on a nail next to a screw top in the hole at 4". Seems pretty good to me.

We next hooked up with my hunting buddy and hit a spot that's been good to us in the past. Hit what looks like a .50 musket ball at 5". What looks to be an unjacketed old style hollow point that's possibly .38 caliber, some clad and some junk.

Maybe it's just me but the machine seemed easier to understand today. The sounds weren't as jumpy and the numbers seemed more in line with what I was hearing. The depth seemed a bit off when swinging but hit pretty accurate when pin pointing. On several occasions I was able to call multiple targets right near each other and was right. I think I'm really going to like this coil!

In the old park I use the park pattern Bill_S posted but check my nulls often times in quick mask with only FE 27 and up blanked out. Otherwise I usually hunt with a combined coin and jewelry pattern but today we were also hunting relics so i pretty much stayed in quick mask.

Guess I should. Also mention I was using smooth tones. Fast on and deep off.

The x-5 is no doubt best trashy coil for the Minelab E-Trac! Gets great depth for a small coil as well!

I have owned my Sun Ray X-5 for a little over a year now and find it to be my preferred really trashy areas I hunt.

First off it really pinpoints tight, second off that when hunting in heavy trash the coins will read with very high tones which make it easier to pick out wheat's and silver dimes under all that trash. I have done it on many different occasions.

Once while hunting a littered area I received a really high pitched targeted through trash (numbers were jumping around) and patience proved it to be a 1875cc dime.

Today I was hunting a high cinder area with a lot of screw caps and pull tabs. I received a broken signal with some repeating high pitched sounds in with the chatter. I dug it and out popped a 1940D Mercury Dime in really nice condition. A lot of guys would have walked away from that signal but the repeating really high pitched sound made me stick with it., and it paid off.

In really trashy areas I use Bill's Trashy Park Program and like it a lot, other wise I use a much more open pattern where trash isn't nearly so thick. Rick IL
