FIRST HUNT WITH THE NEW TEJON

I got out for a short hunt with my new Tejon this afternoon at an old local park.
My buddy and I have hunted it several times and found a couple of indian head pennies
and a few clad coins plus the usual pulltabs and can slaw. Doesn't seem to be many old coins there.

My Tejon came in the mail today so I had to take it someplace and play....and this old park is just up the road from me.
I was surprised that I could max the sensitivity and had very little chatter out of the Tejon. It did chatter slightly when I set it down to dig a target, but not bad at all.
Disc 1 was set right above iron and disc 2 was just above foil, and sens was into the red boost zone about half way.
First target was those dang :pulltab:...next came a stinkin' Lincoln.......:ranting: I hate digging those zinc pennies and was tempted to disc them out, but didn't wanna lose the IH pennies.

Sure enough the next signal was deep and smooth sounding.........yep, it was the 1899 indian head penny at about 7 inches or so. Nice strong hit on the Tejon. Glad I didn't disc out those zincs.
The next couple of targets were big sounding targets that I was sure was trash, and it was smashed pepsi cans pieces.
My last 2 signals were deeper sounding but still hitting very good and dropped out above nickel. The first signal was the 1910 V nickel at almost 9 inches deep.
The last signal was the 1916 D buffalo nickel about 7 to 8 inches deep.

The Tejon ran very smooth and quiet even around power lines. My Omega had fits in this same park from EMI problems.
I was impressed that the Tejon pulled these 3 coins from this park that normally doesn't produce much. I think many more good finds are in store with the Tejon......HH

Roger box that Tejon up and send it off to me, I hate seeing you have to go to all that work of digging so deep and end up being just an old dirty coin. You need to get something that will just get them new shiiny coins :poke:. I had a feeling the Tejon would do well for you, the more you use it the more fun it is, I also found it odd that the Tejon I had didn't get real chatty with the sens. maxed out, I asked Rusty about it and he said that they are different than than uMax detectors that normally can't be ran at max.

THE :tesoro: TEJON ROCKS!!! :super:

I was very pleased how the detector ran..... smooth and deep.

Steve, trust me, I don't mid digging those old dirty coins....lol.

Junior88, it does rock! I can't wait to get it in some of my old sites that produced lots of old coins in the past.

Elton, thanks for the words of encouragement.

I had sold my Tejon a couple years back and had kicked myself ever since. I just picked up a nice used Tejon as I could not take it anymore, I love that detector.

Those are great finds and sometimes you have to dig the junk, zinks, etc to be rewarded with the good stuff. Congrats!
