First hunt with the New CTX 3030

First hunt with my new CTX 3030,at an old ball field I have detected numerous times with the Ace 250. I wasnt sure how well I would do. I didnt feel very stable using it but within seconds I found a clad nickel and penny. I was in the stock coin mode. Not 3 mins later I found a 12-44 signal in a spot I have gone over before with the Ace 250, and BAM!!! a 1906 O Barber Dime only 3" down at a base of an old oak tree in a wooded area where the entrance to the ball field use to be in the 1930's. I also dug a 1910 wheatie and some over relic items. Only dug 3 pieces of trash. I had a lot of signals anywhere from 11-36 and up that sounded good but didnt dig. I am sure I will be back there to dig them soon.

One thing I wasnt sure of was a constant humming sound, it didnt make that sound when pinpointing or detecting an item, but did hum when swinging. Any info would help, thanks

Congratulations on the cool finds. That hummin is your "thresh hold" push and hold your "sound" icon button and select thresh hold to adjust your volume. Make it quiet enough to barley hear it. You should be able to hear it null over iron. Kinda like a mosquito in your ear.

Great snag on the dime as for the other signals i would be digging them also can't learn by swinging only by digging and a great barber for your first .

Awesome find!! Oh and the "humming sound" you speak of is the Threshold, the Ace 250 doesn't have 1, you will hear the Threshold sound as a background noise all the time until you hear the signal. Congrats again on the Dime and an O mint to boot! That is great!!

Thanks neicedog and Bootyhunter, for the help. Coming from an Ace makes learning a CTX a little more difficult but I am getting it the more I play with it. I am going to start to dig everything and really pay attention to the signals more. Thanks guys

Congrats on that barber dime take your time and work the sounds and numbers. :twodetecting::minelab::thumbup:

Yeah, it's kinda like going from a Honda civic to a jet.

HA Great analogy!!! It was just amazing how it found that dime, where I detect a few times before with the Ace. There was a little trash near it so, I am assuming I skipped over it before since the 250 was only picking up the iron. fsdigital12, we are going to have to hit every spot we have gone over before and see what we can find. That one farm we went to near my house, might be a great spot to try. Man oh man, my head is spinning from all the places I have running through it that I want to go and hit up.

Thanks, Bart. This is going to feel like I am detecting all the old places I have gone to already like brand new spots. My next purchase is going to be a shovel. thanks again.

sorry to all the guys who think saying thanks one to many times is wrong.
