FIRST HUNT WITH THE G2

Got the G2 delivered Wednesday evening about 6:00 PM. Went out for 2.5 hours Thanksgiving morning. 25 degrees and the ground was frozen around an 1" The site dates back to the mid to late 1600s so its an exciting field to hunt. Only one penny to be found 1981 but the other finds were pretty interesting. A seventeen century spoon handle and a child's thimble, musket balls were the best I was able to pull out. The targets were not all that deep but the G2 hits pretty hard on the small stuff. One small button was on edge in the first inch and the other button with somewhat a broken signal but more positive was above iron. It will take some time learning how deep this machine will go. It does hit deep iron and lead big time. I used 51 disc and could hunt at 95 sensitivity with no problem. It was smooth! Looking forward to the next hunt.

Hi CD, what were the tones/readings on the iron. was it identifiable through the tones/readings or is it a case of learn it over time.
I realise there are plenty of factors that could have a bearing on this but generally speaking what did you find.

Thanks.

If the iron is fairly large it will give kind of a good signal but I think your right over time and learning the machine will help. It is incredible on small targets and small silver. Some of the iron I hit that first day were large spikes and over 2" washers from farm equipment and some old tractor parts Some of those signals can read in the high range. Deep! Smaller iron you still hear but they are low tines and lower numbers. I really like the split tones on this machine. Hope that helps.
