First hunt with the Elite and a question?

Took my new Elite to an old park for it's first hunt. Picked up a couple of Indians, some wheat's, a big sterling brooch and ring and some foreign coin. One end of the park is infested with iron and trash where some old buildings once stood that burned down. I tried the single tone option and turned down the threshold to silent search and liked the way it worked in the trash. I don't have a meter so can anyone tell me if any of the Sovereign meters will still work in the single tone mode? Thanks!

I own a sovereign elite which i purchased new in 2006. It came with a 550 meter (minelab meter). You do get target identification by number in the single tone mode. I have never done this myself but i just tested it and it does give you numbers in single tone. Someone called this one of the older models but like i said i just purchased this one a few years ago. It has it's place i can tell you that. I certainly won't be parting with mine soon. I recently purchased the technetics omega 8000. It is nice to have a single frequency and a multi frequency detector. Best of luck with your Elite. I am sure you will be very happy with it.

yeah crazyman,,the sov, will give you the numbers based on conductivity of the target,,the tones are just another guide to the target and will work nomatter what the tones,,rgds ,,comcat :ukflag:

I never used the meters much on my Sovereigns in the past. The tones pretty much told me what I needed to know about the target but I see some possibilities with the single tone option with the Elite in some of the worst sites I hunt. I thought as accurate as the meters are it might help a small bit at these sites also in combo with the single tone. Thanks again!
