First hunt with CZ20-on dry land

This think is a coin hunting fool. I found 50 coins and one large $1.00 Centinnial token for my home town of Franklinton, LA. Coincidentally, it was 1961, when I was a high school sophmore at age 17. I found the token at my old High School along with all the other coins: 1 quarter, 4 clad dimes, 4 nickels and the rest in copper and zinc pennies. Many of the pennies were copper, some wheaties. Did I forget to mention I found my first SILVER RING, with 3 small stones? I'll post photos when I can get to the digital camera. The ring is small, probably a student's ring. I'll clean up the coins and token and post them later. I like this CZ20! It was almost like new when I got it last week, never submerged, and works perfectly. Not even scratched. I can't wait to heat the beaches in Florida this summer.

It is a great go anywhere, and do anything (under any weather conditions )machine. I have an 8 inch & 10.5 inch version. They are very deep & very stable in all sorts of soil conditions. When you hit the saltwater beach, unless wading, use a D-handle spade shovel & set the sensitivity as high as you can without chatter. Be prepared to chase coins at 20 inches deep! I always hunt with disc at "0" zero hear all tones. I find it is deeper than the All Metal mode by a couple of inches.

Below is an example of coin chasing at the beach with a CZ20 8 inch coil in moderate black sand conditions. This is winter time hard packed sand conditions, so no, the coin did not fall deeper into the hole!

Speaking of hole, the 20 is amazingly good at centering on the target. It will never discriminate out a clad coin or silver, and goes to a "5" on Zinc pennies, with "6" discriminate being the highest level. I like the multi-tone and the ease of getting to know it and predict what's in the hole before digging. That is better than having an LED display with VDI numbers!

Update on token: After cleaning the coin I discovered it to be a late 19th or early 20th century mercandise coin minted by "T.B. Erwin & Son, Ltd." "good for" "general merchansise". It was minted in my hometown,
"Franklinton, La." by a man who was born Nov. 9, 1856, and who died long after closing his business, on May 2, 1941. I wonder what this thing might be worth? It's the size of a 19th century silver dollar and made of copper or similar alloy, but thinner than the silver dollar.
