First hunt time out with my Sand Shark...

fwcrawford

Well-known member
I went out to a local swimming lake this afternoon to try my new Sand Shark out.
Pretty good balance between junk and coins and I am impressed with this machine so far.
I like the balance and the VCO mode and believe I prefer this mode over the normal mode.
I found the little earring and although it was junk, I was impressed by the signal response I got from it.
It is very sensitive to small targets as the photo shows.
Most finds were on the beach, but I did find a couple of coins while wading in the water about knee deep.
Looking forward to trying it at the saltwater beach later this year.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Glad you like your machine! That is a tiny ear ring!! Congrats

You are a braver man than me to use a PI in freshwater, but if you are digging it then more power to you and I'm glad you are liking it. Keep swinging and lets see what else you come up with!

The more you use the SS the more you will fall in love with it. As long is the area is some what junk free that is. After some time on this machine you will be able to start hearing the slightly different sounds that different metals make, but it will fool you sometimes on hair pins, have pulled chains and other coins out when they sound like hair pins. Most people hate hair pins, i don't because first that tells me that women have been there and second that it just might be that gold chain that you are looking for.

Good Luck and keep searching

Thanks for the information.. right now everything pretty much sounds the same which I expected.
Only problem I had yesterday was very small objects falling through the holes in my scoop. Not much problem on the beach, but this could be much more difficult in the water unless I get some kind of device to dump the contents into with smaller holes.
Only thing I don't like about the Sand Shark is the way the headphone cable comes out of the back of the control box... wish it would have come out of the front panel somewhere... other than that, I love the balance, sensitivity and simplicity of the detector.

Looks like you are off to a great start with the Sand Shark.
Cheers,

I bought the machine to use in saltwater, but figured I'd try it out in a nearby lake.
Being a land hunter, I am used to putting up with trash, and it is much easier to put up with in the sand.
I was pretty impressed by my finds the first time out with it.
One thing for sure.. if a ring is there and I go over it, there is no doubt that I will find it.
I'll keep you posted on my progress and finds,
Felix
