First Hunt On My Own!

New member
I am new to hunting and recently went on my first hunt with the Cajuncoinhunter. It was great to get some tips and instruction from a someone with more knowledge than I. I found the "Mother lode of all nickels" on my first hunt see attached thread for the You Tube video.

I went back to the same park this time with my wife on our own. It was her first hunt and my second hunt. We found a good bit of clad coins (I found $5.31, wife found $2.26) and some miscellaneous junk. The top photo is my finds and the bottom photo is my wife's finds. So far I have been happy with my Garrett GTP 1350 and Garrett Pinpointer Pro.

Awesome Start! You said that you are new but it looks like you have learned how to use your detector quite well. I think you are going to have a lot of fun hunting.

Welcome to the forum! Cool video!:clapping: Been through Breaux Bridge a few times myself. Let the good times roll!
Great hunt!:garrett::detecting: Congrats on that ginormous nickel spill!:beers: Don't get discouraged if ya don't top that for a while!:wiggle:
Nice hunt this last time, too! Great clad haul! That GTP1350 is a great machine. I've never owned or used one, but there are several here on the forum that do. I still have my old GTAx1250, which is the older brother of the GTP1350, same machine minus the profiling feature. I still swing it around from time to time.
Hey, that's great that your wife enjoys metal detecting with you. I introduced my wife to the hobby a few years ago and now she kicks my tail darn near everytime we go out detecting!
Thanks for sharing!:) Happy Hunting!

I think it was a good idea to find someone local to help me get started. Cajuncoinhunter has been very kind in giving me tips and helping me develop good habits. So far, I love it. Its starting to get real warm down here and couple that with the exercise I have been getting (so sore today!), I am only able to get out once a week, even though I have more time to hunt!

Thanks for viewing! I had a blast making the video with Cajuncoinhunter. I certainly enjoy watching his You Tube videos and even better, I got to "star" in one! So far I am very happy with my purchase. I think the pinpointer and Lesche digger have been just as important. Without those two I would certainly spend more time on each find.

I am pretty lucky to have a wife who is willing to share in my new hobby. She had fun and enjoyed the exercise too! She has a cheap Bounty Hunter, I think if she invests her clad finds in something like the Ace 250/350...she will kick my tail!

I would say you're off to an excellent start.

You done good, bud. (That is called homage!!!!)

Absolutely, I agree. Where do you consider the best spots for finding treasures are located? Is a park or playground the best spots?

Great start, nice finds. Happy hunting from Upper Michigan
