First hunt of the year.

Hi everyone

Had a couple of hours to hunt today before New Years dinner. No snow or rain here in California so it was another great sunny day to detect. Hit a site that was close to home. Grabbed my high dollar machine first and saw the Golden sitting there wanting a chance to prove itself. So instead I grabbed the Golden with the 5.75 coil instead. I told myself I'll give the Golden 1 hour and If I don't get a silver then the high dollar machine gets it's chance. Within 45 minutes the Golden had a nice Indian head dress ring in the pouch and was still going strong. I finished the 2 hour hunt with my first silver of the year a 1916 merc ,dozen wheat's,silver cuff link, toy gun and a nice silver heavy Indian head dress ring. The Golden performed admirably and cut right through the twist off cap trash. The notch works well at this particular spot and I even dug a nickle despite all the pull tongues. Deepest coin dug was at about 5 inches.

Very nice way to begin the New Year with silver! Nice assortment of finds!
Looks to me like that Golden was Golden.

was thinking okay a 1916D would be a great way to start the year! I wouldn't have been been surprised as the Golden never ceases to amaze me!
I pulled a 97-S barber half out of a median strip in April with this same combo.
