First Hunt Of The Year

Critterhunter

New member
Down the street from me they tore out two old houses with a fairly decent sized yard to hunt. So yesterday two friends and I hit the spot. I didn't sleep well the night before so I only hunted about an hour before I felt like quitting, so I spent the next two hours just watching my two friends hunt to see how they'd do. One friend got 3 indians in one hole, another indian, and a rosie. The other friend got one indian, an old copper token about the size of a quarter, a standing liberty quarter, and a rosie as well. Even though I was too tired to hunt I did enjoy myself watching them hunt.

Today they headed for the spot again. I still don't feel up to hunting so I just stopped by to see how they were doing. A few more indians, one or two more rosies, and a seated dime have been dug so far (they are still hunting there). It's a shame I just wasn't into hunting. Been feeling run down for a few days and just want to lay around and watch TV.

There was another guy there hunting as well using a lowly XLT. They didn't know him and he didn't even come over to say "Hi" when he arrived as they were hunting. Little does that guy know how well they've gridded the place so far with their Etracs. I don't expect his XLT is going to find anything for him that the Minelabs missed. It's a nice warm day and I bet this guy has been eyeing this spot all winter waiting for a nice day to hit it, so I bet he wasn't very happy when he pulled up and saw two of my friends already hunting the site.

I'm just in one of those moods where I can't seem to get motivated to hunt. The lack of a good night's sleep hasn't helped. Since I guided my two friends to "my" spot and they've done well there I'll be sure to call in a few favors when they get another good private spot to hunt.

Looks like your friends have been doing good. I bet if they pulled a 1877 IH that would put you in a hunting mood quick! What dates did they find? HH

Funny thing is the one guy's first indian was a 1901, and the other guy's first indian was also a 1901. The rest of them needed cleaning to see the dates on so I'm not sure what they were.

Critt, its good to share, sorry you are not feeling up to hunting , but your day is coming, you will get out . looks like the lots are good , personaly i would be digging all the nails to find the masked targets.
