First hunt of 2013 = gold!!!!

Hey all! Been awhile since I posted, been lurking around all winter seeing you lucky guys that were able to get out and hunt. Temps got to the mid 40's today and most of the snow has melted, so I couldn't stand it any longer and decided to get out for my first hunt of 2013. I went out around 3:45pm to the park down the road. Decided to hit the same old baseball field once again as I figured "why not..." My first coin dug turned out to be a 59 memorial, doh! Missed a wheatie by one year. I started making my way to my lil hot spot near the bleachers. I just had gotten finished digging a junk target. As I stood up and stomped down the plug, my detector went off about 2 feet away and it was loud! I look down and I see this hoop bracelet that looked like gold. I picked it up and slowly examined the inside band and spotted a <14 symbol. It had some weight to it so I figured it was gold of some sorts.

After slowly slipping this potential goodiee in my back pocket, I continued on with the hunt. I pretty much dug anything above iron and well I was rewarded with alot of foil, did manage to pick up the junk ring about 20 ft from the bracelet, it rang up a 47 every time. I was surprised at 5 inches to find it and had my hopes up that it was some kind of white gold, but alas I seen the reddish color starting to show thru in some spots and it turns out to be plated. Well it started to get dark and I came across a nickel signal 50 - 53. Dug down and found a pulltab. Stood up after filling the hole and there was a target about 3 inches away from where I dug. This one in the higher 50's. Turned out to be a Portuguese 50 cent coin from 1945, cool! I filled the hole, stood up again and swung and about 4 inches away was another signal. I said to myself, I bet its another Portuguese coin. Sure enough, I dug its twin sister. This one was a 1937. Finally the wind picked up and it was pretty dark so I decided to call it a night.

Sorry for the quality in pictures, the camera is about 8 years old and its hit or miss instead of point and click lol. Before taking the pictures I decided to do an acid test on the bracelet just to be certain its gold. Tested out A-OK with 14k solution. It weighs 5.9 grams and I'm not complaining! As for the clad, I dug 2 dimes, 3 nickels (oldest being 1947) and 10 pennies.

The ATPro is one killer machine and I'm happy I bought it almost 1 year ago. Can't wait to get out tomorrow, supposed to be in the lower 40's. HH! :)

WTG Eric. I got out Saturday and all I found was cans, can tops from the fishermen's stuff they put in their outboards and 5 pennies. Then my AT/Pro went crazy on land under the power lines and I had got so cold and wet in deep water that I couldn't think to change the frequency. It was still good to get out and I'm glad you were rewarded with gold and some good clad. HH
