First Hunt of 2012

Well, the temps were in the high 40s here in Central NY, so we just had to go out hunting...A buddy of mine picked me up, and we first hit a local school that I had not been to...Fields were a mud pit...wet, soggy, and full of iron trash...We then went to a good sized park down the road a bit...again, wet, but a bit more coin and less trash, but mostly pennies and zincs...We were going to hit an old soccer fields, but it was fenced off and posted...I have no idea why...My take was meager, but it was a fun day anyways and a good hunt for this time of the season here...Also I thought I ate Cherios for breakfast, but I found a Lucky Charm (NOT Silver)...lol...oldest coin: 1960D memorial cent

HH,

GoGoopher the last three days have been in the 40s and rainy here. I went out friday and looked like some kinda mud monster when I was done. my digging tool and propointer both look like mud balls. gonna let the mud dry before I clean them up. I wanted to go out yesterday and today but just didn't want to deal with the mud again so soon. a couple days from now and I'll be chompin' at the bit again I'm sure. Anyway, I hope your weather stays huntable deep into the winter! and best of luck to you

Congrats on your finds. I bet U R feeling privilaged to hunt in this time of the season compared to other winters. looks like U folks up north have been getting a break. Make hay while the sonshines

Good clad hunt at least. More battery money!

I made up a parody song while I was out there...Sung to Snow Patrol "Chasing Cars"

We dig it all...Everything
like everyone...
These new zincs...Are killing me
They're just no fun...

If I dig HERE!!!
If I just dig HERE...
Will I find a gold ring,
or just another tab?
I dig in the cold...
but I'm getting too old...
to dig all of these zincolns
and never find the gold...

LOL,

WTG GoGo,
I too went out in the balmy 40 degree weather to a nearby boat launch. Dug only clad but it was nice to get out for the first time in 2012!
