First Hunt Of 2011!

Not ideal conditions but most of the ground was thawed. Of course I was busy when the weather got to 50 deg. for a couple days. It was 25 deg. with an increasing wind. I did stay warm for about 2.5 hours.

I went back to finish up the last place I hunted in the fall - remember that pretty 2 cent I found there? Anyway it was a great hunt and I still have more ground to cover. I actually only made about four passes in the front yard. Here is a pic of the booty, nice merc, two rosies had a wheat between them, 1906 IH, 1868 2 cent, Civil War store card (back below), and some kind of a Chinese coin. I also dug nine wheats.

The first coin of the new year - IH!

Excellent finds, especially the storecard. Congrats. I recognize the foreign coin, I think it's Japanese.

Nice hunt Robin.

61 degrees here on Friday but heavy rain all day.....so no hunting.

Back to 25 degrees on Saturday and Sunday:thumbdown:

If your first hunt of 2011 is any indication of the rest of your year,
you are going to be busy digging silver and wheats and IHs.
Nice finds....... Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Looks like a Japanese 10 Yen coin. I spent a lot of them when I was there in the late 1980's in the Air Force. Nice finds!

Wow!! You couldn't ask for a better first hunt!! Awesome!!

If I had a place like that here, I'd be out there no matter how cold it was!!

Nice finds! The foreign coin definitely is Japanese and is a 10 Yen - probably from 1950s -60s. I still have some left over from my last business trip there. The storecard is from Mishawaka, IN and is probably Fuld #IN 630B-1a with an R4 rating. If there's a comma after "Groceries" then it is an R 8 rarity. Neat finds! Stay warm & HH.

Totally awesome finds. Looks like some of my hunts last year.:minelab:
Congrats
