First hunt of 2010!

Man it was nice to get out swinging again! That is, even thought I was wearing two jackets, long undies, two pair of gloves and etc. It was about 25 deg. with a stiff wind when I started. The site is a woods now, but was an old racetrack/fairgrounds (township property). It has been pounded but the area is huge. The detecting ranges from super clean signal-less to piles of old junk. I hunted for about four hours and finally came upon a little hot spot. I found these two about ten feet apart. Cannot get a date off the seated - darn.

I was using my Sun Ray 8" coil (since I forgot my Pro coil). I was shoving it through about four inches of snow. Worked good until the snow started to warm up.

I just may have to go out again for a while today!

Hi BF Looks like to me your dlme had to be minted prior to 1860. It appears the motto UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is on the reverse of the dime. it was moved to the obverse in 1860. Hope this helps. Mike

Hey very cool indeed, was thinking about doing some cold weather detecting myself. Hope you have as much luck if not better today, HH L8R

Very cool finds and way to go on the winter hunt. I keep going out just to keep my skills honed.
