First hunt in saltwater with Dual Field yields GOLD

Went out to the beach with my friend Mickfin Saturday with my new Whites DF and was pleasantly surprised to find a small thin 14K gold band. I have only had the DF for about a week, so I am in the process of learning this new machine. I started the day by just basically getting to know the settings and experimenting with them in the heavy mineralized areas and in the surf. I was surprised to how easy the machine was able to counter these problems and still stay quieter than expected. The DF was much quieter than my Infinium was at the same beach. I was diggin targets at about 8"-10" on average all day, with some deeper and some shallower. The DF got alot more depth with the pulse delay OFF. With the pulse delay on it lost half it's depth immediately. I have alot of hours left to get the full potential of this machine, but it's sure user friendly so far. The gold ring was 2 scoops down which is usually around the 6"- 8" mark, give or take. Not bad on such a small ring, and it gave me a solid signal at any angle. I was only able to keep the gain at preset and the threshold just barely audible to keep the machine stable and effective on heavy mineralized parts of the beach, and on lighter parts I was able to almost max out the gain (to try and hear the deeper signals) while lowering the threshold to just barely audible. The only problem I encountered with the DF was the fluttering feel the coil gave sweeping it under water.

I'm sure with may more hours of use I will be able to do even better with depth and stability.

I ended the day with $3.35 in clad and one gold ring.

Very Nice FG with the DF....Congrads!

Nice find(im jealous)..I've cleaned my local beach about 10 times so far and keep finding lots of stuff but no gold yet. I love the dual field its an awsome machine.

Congratulations on your finds. I too owned a Dual Field and sold it. It just wasn't for me.

Congrats on the DF gold! I usually hunt with the pulse delay just clicked on but at minimum. I never tried leaving it off altogether but I wonder if it makes a difference? HH!

WTG Lake Hunter it was good to Hunt with you over at Sea Cliff Beach by santa Cruze, It was just a funn time just a walking in the rain, With are DFs
Im a comming over to see that RING again!!!!! Mickfin

Darryl I 4Rgot to ask you what did the Gold Ring sount Like with the DF , Mickfin

NICE JOB.:twodetecting::cheers::jump:

Mick, the DF only has 1 tone.. it sounds like everything else :) although the tone can be smoother at least that's how it seems to my ears... I will say iron has a wide sound... iron nails, wire, lobster trap junk will have a broken tone or scratchy..

Congrats on the ring Lakehunter... you should find many more with the DF, patience is number 1 with a pulse machine...

With practice you'll be able to hear the edges of sound difference between targets of different metals and shapes. I have been using the DF for over a year now. Deep is it's middle name i tell you. :) I run the gain at 3pm, Delay just turned on 7am, and depending on the black sand the thresh hold at 11am... and 12am ... that changes due to Black sand and ridges under water. If it's chattering i back of the gain some and bring the thresh hold back till a bit quieter. HH Mikey:thumbup:

way to go..:detecting::clapping::jump:its always nice to find the gold..
