WTG Chris. That was a good day. I finally hit this old house Saturday after being given permission about 5 months ago and it was full of metal of all types, but coins. I found one clad penny, cut my hand open on a rusty can and had to get a tetanus shot. Everything rang up as a coin was some type of metal flashing. I can't tell if it was brass or copper, but it sure sounded good. Small squares 1 inch of it and large squares about 5 inches. It threw the 5 x 10 DD coil, and both imaging coils for a loop and I intend to go back and bring my sniper coil for a rematch this weekend.
I found 2 -1981 pennies in the swimming hole next to my house and I have 2 - 5 gallon buckets full of scrap metal to take to the recycle place.
One of the owner's sons stopped by and asked me what I was doing and I informed him who I was and yes, I did ask permission and he told me about an older place on their property and I hope to look around for some indication of the foundations next time I go. Real nice folks and I hope I find something real nice to share with them and let them know how much I appreciate them letting a complete stranger metal detect their property. If I had a day like yours it would be terrific, but just being able to get out last Saturday did my me some good. The owner will not let me go inside the house due to it's condition and I would really like to check out the inside fireplace with my detector and my UV lights. You never know what you will find and that's what makes this hobby so interesting. HH
