First hunt in a month

Well more like 3 weeks. It was really nice out today so I decided it might be one of my last chances in 2011. Just clad and a few other little odds and ends in 2 hours at a local school. About 100 coins shy of my 2007 clad total. (2007 was the year I found the fewest clad coins in all my years detecting.) I'd really like to beat it.

I am a little burned out, I suppose.

Looks good! I'd like a day that good...

For 2 hours looks like U kept busy Chris. Looks like allmost a hundred targets u found in 2 hours:thumbup: Maybe your weather will give u a break and not keep U from detecting.

Good clad count.
Keep that up and you'll get your objective.

Congrats Chris. :clapping:You always do well on your hunts. Looks like about 85 coins plus the doo-dads in 2 hours. Best I ever had was 67 coins on a single hunt but that was a 7 hour grid hunt.

It is 85 coins! $7.20 if you didn't figure that part out. I was trying for 100 as I always do but I was pooped!

Are you in the Navy? Ex-Navy? I was a submariner back in the 1980s. When did I get old?

Chris

It wasn't a bad day. It was a great day. I really needed the exercise too. It was somewhat boring lootwise. Slow and steady wins the race though, and yes, I'm racing!

Retired RMC. Bubblehead huh? I use the term with admiration. Tuff life. Went on board one a the boomers once for a tour. Was thinking of becoming one myself. The tour changed my mind.

I toured a British boat once when it pulled into Norfolk. HMS Winston Churchill. Must have been in around 1987 or 1988. Those lucky bastards got a daily ale allowance. We got good and drunk at lunch with them. We weren't even allowed to bring mouthwash or cough syrup aboard if it contained alcohol. I spent a summer up in Dunoon. I wasn't on a boomer either. We stopped for liberty and repairs. A piece of equipment was damaged by some fumes from the epoxy we used to paint the bilges. We kept fixing the piece of gear that broke and then when we got underway it didn't work properly. Since the repair requied a hull cut it took a long time. We were in and out of there all summer and into fall which was fine with me because I loved Scotland. Never knew you were from the UK.

WTG Chris. That was a good day. I finally hit this old house Saturday after being given permission about 5 months ago and it was full of metal of all types, but coins. I found one clad penny, cut my hand open on a rusty can and had to get a tetanus shot. Everything rang up as a coin was some type of metal flashing. I can't tell if it was brass or copper, but it sure sounded good. Small squares 1 inch of it and large squares about 5 inches. It threw the 5 x 10 DD coil, and both imaging coils for a loop and I intend to go back and bring my sniper coil for a rematch this weekend.
I found 2 -1981 pennies in the swimming hole next to my house and I have 2 - 5 gallon buckets full of scrap metal to take to the recycle place.
One of the owner's sons stopped by and asked me what I was doing and I informed him who I was and yes, I did ask permission and he told me about an older place on their property and I hope to look around for some indication of the foundations next time I go. Real nice folks and I hope I find something real nice to share with them and let them know how much I appreciate them letting a complete stranger metal detect their property. If I had a day like yours it would be terrific, but just being able to get out last Saturday did my me some good. The owner will not let me go inside the house due to it's condition and I would really like to check out the inside fireplace with my detector and my UV lights. You never know what you will find and that's what makes this hobby so interesting. HH
