First hunt, first find! I'm hooked

Howdy. I am new to the hobby. Just got my first detector. Found this at an old ice harvesting plant in Pennsylvania. It was a site served by a small gauge railroad to ship the ice out after harvest. This was my first hunt ever. Found it about two inches down. I think it is a piece of door hardware from a boxcar. Can't make out too much of the identifiers on it yet. Definitely says Q & C co, Chicago. I fear that I may have been spoiled by my first find. A real thrilling rush for this history and artifact fan!

Warning, there is no cure for this addiction!
The only treatment is more hunting, as often as possible
Tracker IV was my first machine, good choice and an excellent
Way to learn the tones.

Congrats on your find...WARNING!...don't try to quit this addiction, the withdrawals are worse than the habit, sleepless nights, shakes, aimlessly wandering through parks & vacant lots:wacko:

Cool find, but im a little more impressed with your reseach.. I believe alot of those northern lakes used to supply the ice houses back before electricity. great job..gotta be more finds around those types of places if you can find where most of the activity took place..
