I had some surprising results the nails would really mess with the id the cursor would bonce around and didn't know where to stop (but the sound was a high tone mixed with grunts ) so I had the ideal of running at auto -3 the reason being that I didn't want to light up the nails under the dime and screw up the high tone .
So I get to the fairgrounds only had 2 hours but I think I'm on to something I have heavy trash where I hunt I really don't care what detector you run here your just not going to dig deep coins unless you get lucky and find a place where you can get between all the trash so depth was not a issue .
I started where I had found 6 Indians in a small area all those coins were only 3 inches deep the ctx was running at 19 on sense with the offset it was at 16 so I get a signal next to a nail you know the false kind anyway I pinpoint and it drags me away from the target I sweep it the other way and get a good signal so I have a signal both ways except there's iron grunting with the high both ways.
So I crank it up to 26 manual and I can hardy hear it one way with all that iron blaring at me and the other way it's gone just iron tone the curser bouncing all over the place. so I go back to -3 offset which was running at 19 -3 so the id is 12.32 to 12.34 all my Indians here come in at 12.35 and only 1 came in at 12.34 corroded real bad. I was running high trash in combine open screen when I hit it Fe line at 20 check it in ferrous coin same signal then ground coin same signal but more bounce in the curser and the #s were 12,30 to 12.34 by the way my detector wanted to run at 26 to 23 auto +3 .
The depth indicator said 9 inches to 10 with the 6 inch coil (remember I am only running at 16 for sense ) so I start to dig it 6 inch plug first 2 inches black dirt the next 5 inches are sand and gravel fill I thought now I'm at 7 inches then there's this super black dirt almost like charcoal I take another inch off and there's the target a 3 inch nail great I say so I put the pin pointer back in and it's screaming at me I more inch and I see a green disc 1907 Indian and it's wore so this had to be some mild fill they put in here 10 feet away I found other Indians here at 3 inches so now I have about 20 different places here where I have dug old coins that were shallow in this black charcoal type dirt and areas adjacent to them have fill
I then found a signal that was reading 12.09 to 12.10 saying 8 to 9 inches same sound iron with high tone tried the same modes same results. So I put it at 26 for sense and I can hardy hear it again all iron grunting dug down 6 inches hit the charcoal dirt 2 inches more and a 1920 d Buffalo looks bad in the pick but it's a nice coin with full date .
I found one more Indian at 9 inches same thing happened by the way I only did a spot about 10 by 15 there's that many signals here I really wonder what that iron is really hiding there probably more than the 10 coins I have found here . So this was only a small test going to try some more and see what happens I'm really pumped because I clobbered this spot and there's a lot to do here . sube
