I waited all summer to go to the state park, today was the first day for metal detecting, I went to the volley ball court and my second hit at 4" (12-04) I figured it was junk but I figured it could be a ring so I put my sand scoop in and shook it around. I heard a faint noise but there was nothing in the scoop. I took out my Garrett pro pin pointer and got a signal in the wet sand that I had sifted, I could not see it so I started to pick up small amounts of sand and scan my hand, on the second scoop the pin pointer hit hard, I brushed the wet sand away and there it was a diamond ear ring 18K stamped on the back It was kinda of large so I had concerns that it may be a CZ, I was so excited I quit hunting. (Just in time a major thunder storm flared up). I went to the local mall and asked the sales person at Zales Jewelers to see if the stone was real. To my surprise it was and it is approximately 1 1/2 cts. the color is fair and there is a small speck of carbon to the side hidden partially by the prong. (Value not quoted).
I am still waiting to find my first silver with my CTX 3030. My first hit was a clad quarter a solid 12-45. It is storming now but I will return to see if there is anything else in the pit tomorrow morning.

PS: found some silver with my Safari prior to getting the 3030.
