First golds with Etrac

Neil

Well-known member
Got out for a few hours today and found some more things about the Etrac. I ran it about 2 hours on 2 bars and it was still on 2 bars(battery strength indicator) so I have a better idea on battery life. I also hunted both in minelabs beach mode(I was on a beach) and in quickmask and the beach mode worked pretty good. I was able to run in manual sens at 25 for awhile and found my first gold ring at 8" down(the one with the initials). I headed down near the black mud and started scanning and the 25 manual sens was to noisy so I readjusted to auto sens, switched from neutral to difficult soil, turned deep off and trash densitiy from low to high. This area has alot of debris, rotting pieces of iron and just all kinds of junk. I got a nice signal and started digging, man that mud stinks when you get down in it, I guess I was about 12" or so and I was about to give up as the stuff had to be scraped off my scoop because it was sticking to it, and I came up my second ring which has some cool engravings on it. If youve any idea what FCB stands for please let me know.
So Im impressed with the Etrac in that it found me two nice rings. Im still finding it acting like my Explorer which is fine by me, before I got the Etrac I think thats the finest machine out there. Right now Id have to say the Etrac is the same as the Explorer with a better menu layout, and some options I havent tried yet like the different tones. I also like the digital/smartfind display on one screen.
If anyone has any info on the last ring please let me know.
Thanks for looking,
Neil

Thank you, interesting reading. Never heard of them:cheers:

Those are two very nice finds, Neil. Good Job!

I'm curious; do you recall the FE and CO readings on those two targets?

Thank you and yes, the initial ring was F12 C18 and the pythias ring was F12 C27. I have to say I like the way the conduct numbers stay pretty solid, something I will keep an eye on in the future. I always used the smartfind on my Explorer so these digital numbers could prove helpful.

Hey Ron, not sure of the weights, I accidetially broke the scale you gave me so Ive got to get another one.
Your gonna love that new coil, its the one I was using.

Andy's book, and my tests, show that almost all gold and silver and coins will fall on the FE 12 line (except for big silver).

I concur.

The FE numbers can get dragged down to a maximum of FE 27 for deep targets or bad mineralization, but the CO numbers remain the same. This is a major advantage for the E-Trac.

Aren't the FE and CO transposed in this statement?
