Nice old gold too,
try just a soft damp cloth with a little baking soda to make a paste and rub it out,most of the time that will do it.
If that won't work you might have to try some polishing compound on a cloth or even a polishing wheel on a dremel tool with polishing compound
on that,But 99 times out of 100 the baking soda rub is all I've ever needed

ya just want to wear an eye patch don't ya 
now i only called my self a pirate when i found a gold ring big enough that my wife poked me in the eye so she could grab it when i wasn't looking 
& i really did need the eye patch 
honestly i did
