a friend called me today he has been thinking of buying a detector and wanted me to come over to show him how to operate one, so i brought my x terra 50 and my F2. he tells me a story about a friend of his that after dressing out an elk last year and was washing some of the gook off his hands and after they got back to the house he had noticed that he had lost his wedding band, ( his wife cried for about a week ) she bought him another one but it wasn't the same they had been together for 17 years. so anyway my buddy says that it took place behind the old barn and that would be a good place to play around with the detectors. the place was full of trash so detecting was hard. to make a long story short after about 15 minutes i got a good 24 signal so i dug it and out pop-ed this heavy large 14k gold band. what a great find I'm glad that it was returned to the grateful owners but I'm a little sad that it was my best find with the x 50 and i am unable to keep the memento. anyway i wouldn't have it any other way they were so appreciative.

Great job! So is you friend going to buy a detector now? Take some pictures of the ring and you handing it over. This sounds like the making of a news worthy story.

What a great story. Oh for sure pictures of the guy getting the ring back, good happy ending, Beale.

you know, every gold ring I found is just sitting in a tin in my underwear drawer. I wouldn't mind at all if i could reunite them all with thier rightful owners.
In the eye's of the owners of that ring you found, you are a real HERO! Awesome job Mtgold.

That's a great find and made some folks very happy. With my X-50, I used to skip targets of 18 and 21 because of pull tabs, but after I found a couple of mens gold wedding bands with my other detector and ran them over the X-50, they hit on solid 18 & 21 readings.

Yeah, it would of been nice to keep the ring but think how you made the guy's wife feel, she will never forget that. Nice going. HH John

That was a great thing you did for everyone who enjoys this pasttime, you did a service to our reputation, I hope this is being read by the few that hurt our rep.

Wow awesome story! I bet he and his wife were both very happy. He should buy you a case of beer for a reward, and maybe a nice kiss from the wife. :clapping:
