Worked the F5 out today for about 5 hours. $8.38 in clad and this nice little 10K gold elephant ring. Wish I could get a better pic but this is the best its going to do.

I tell you I am very pleased with this machine. My little Golden now has a new buddy.

First off, I can actually manually ground balance this thing exactly to my ground. I mean exactly! Click down into all metal with the threshold at 0 or +1. Pump the coil and rotate the gb number to match, then slowly turn click by click while still pumping and get that one click positive setting. I mean I can tell the difference a single click makes on my ground balance setting. I love it! I absolutely love it!!!!! And I'm not hanging out near the end the ground balance range. I'm only at a 75 phase reading! With the F-75 and T2 I was between 84 and 93. With the Xterra 50 I was at a 2 to 6. With the Xterra 70 I was at a 10 to 6. On this F5 I still have a ton of room to spare. I love it. I just love it. Got to be second nature to pump the coil every so often to see what the phase number showed if it went up or down a number I could quickly get my ground balance back exactly like I wanted it to be.

My FE meter readings were a bit puzzling. I was puzzled because I was comparing them to the FE readings I got with the T2 and F75, which would compare to the 3 bars. However, the F75 and T2 used the DD coil and the F5 uses a concentric coil so I think that explains why the reading is higher with the F5. The concentric is seeing more of the ground and giving a higher reading, pegging out the FE meter with a full 4 bars. The joys of Albuquerque ground minerals.

I'm just really happy with this unit. Now to find a armstrap for it. Oh yeah...I want a larger coil, please

Nice find Mike!!

I found my first gold ring with my F5 over the summer. It rang in as a pull tab, but somehow it sounded too good to be a tab (different, hard to explain) and when I dug into the wet sand, bamb there it was at about 7" down, a nice little 14K ring, that it hit really hard on. If I can get my overload issue squared away I'll keep my F5.

This one id'ed with a bouncing 24.

Quarters hit at 84-85
Dimes hit at a 72-74
Copper pennies were 70-71
Zincers were 59-61

Thats right, I could tell the difference at this site between dimes and copper pennies.

After sampling the lower iron numbers I recovered everything that hit at a 13 or higher. I've got a piece of ring that locked on at a 14 that I need to test to see what it is. Lots of small low conductors and two junk rings that hit in the 30's and 40s.

With the F70, Ive found I can tell copper cents from dimes too, same as you Mike. At least for the most part.

The F5 is a sweet little machine! I know what you mean about the GB...you can tweak it to perfection.
