First Gold with the AT Pro

Waterdog

Well-known member
I was out swinging when I got a hit reading pull tab, after I dug it up I re-scaned the hole and got a 38-40 hit again. I moved a little more dirt and thought I was Foiled again when I seen a little glint of gold. There was this little tiny Gold chain (looked like the little gold chain women wear around their neck). I carefully Pulled the dirt out from around it. I took it home and put it in Jewerly cleaner. After I cleaned it the best I could I looked at the clasp and it said Italy, fliped it over and 14kt. I put it on the scale and it weighs 1.9 grams and is about 9 inches long. You never know what a pull tab will hide.
I need to get a little more dirt out of it where it is kinked. What else can I use to clean it with?

Congrats on the gold. I have only found two gold rings so far with the Pro, both were small woman's rings, one rang up at a 45, the other a 46. They sounded better than the pulltabs/crap I was digging in the same number range, did you notice if yours sounded better/different? Again congrats on the gold, now that you've broken the ice, hope you have many more this season. Artie

Thats a real trophy! :clapping: I have been wondering about those little chains...if the Pro can hit them, and it obviously can! Congratulations!

Man I got fooled once! With another machine. Dug a neckless out of some red dirt. Nice weight, had Italy 14k on the clasp. Well after a couple days of cleaning, soaking it started to look like something. Until I put a magnet on it! That necklace grabbed that magnet like a monkey grabs a banana. If it had been gold that machine would have been paid for in one swing. Alas it took 3700 more targets to match the value. Nice hit waterdog, It's quite a thrill seeing that yellow isn't it!

Nice one, congrats!
I work part time inn a pawn shop and have access to all kinds of cleaning methods. But the way I clean MY necklace, is the same way I clean my teeth.....
with toothpaste and a toothbrush.
Oh, may I ask....How long you been swinging the Pro?

Good one, Waterdog! You make a good case for digging some of those iffy signals!

Nice going on the gold chain, that's a tough target for most detectors. And good on you for rescanning the hole. HH jim tn

Nice on the gold chain! I'm still looking for my first one.
