First gold with my GMT, even though shooter coil turns out to be faulty (maybe)!

It's good to break the ice, also my first nugget in my state:

It does not register on my scales which only does .1g increments. It's very thin, but it's as wide as a typical .2 grammer, gave a decent signal with the shooter, even though that coil might be faulty, so I'm happy with the performance of the detector.

It's overloading after 6 1/4 on the gain. Tried another shooter coil and it worked alright in the same area. Strange thing is it works fine in my room, that's weird. Rang the whites dealer, they told me it's the coil and send it in, no dramas and no hassles, hardly even had to explain the problem.

Very nice find. Congrats to you.

I was out this morning with my GM V/SAT with the Shooter coil. Some guy hand dug a big hole down to bed rock a few miles down from here above the river on BLM Land and I'm not so sure how legal what he did was but thought I'd check it for anything he may have left behind. Have never seen him with a detector so thought it worth checking.

In short order I hit on a sound and used my small fine plastic brush to work the rock crevice out. I found a couple times I had moved it so I was getting a little excited but still could not see anything of interest. Finally it gave me a double sound and the first thing to come to mind was it can't be a tiny piece of wire could it? I got tired of trying to see it so brushed the material into my plastic scoop to seperate it out.

Turned out to be a very fine and thin rusty wire bristle from a brush he had used to clean out cracks and crivices.

Ya, that is very ironic, but at least you know your detector works! Gives a guy confidence
