First gold with E-trac . . .First gold EVER

NJ-Newbie

Well, I haven't been detecting very long, since December, BUT I finally got a treasure :clapping: I was hunting a bay side beach and I knew I was onto something good because I was pulling LOADS of old school pull tabs >>>> :pulltab: so I knew nobody had hunted for gold. Well after about an hour it paid off, I got a Mohters Ring. Looks like an older style, it's small ring size but it has the marking 14k PC on the inside. I researched and think it means "Plum Coinage"??? Any additonal info on it is appreciated. Thanks for looking!! I'm sooo insanely hooked on metal detecting hahaha

Yes Plumb is a common mark. I never saw plumb coinage but probably means the same thing. Even though rings are marked 10K 12K 14K and so on there can be a tolorance in the gold content that is acceptable. Like some 14K is 13.6K Plumb means true 14K. Pretty STRANGE ring but a keeper to melt for sure. Sorry I think its ugly.

LOL BUT a wonderful find considering its gold!! Sorry forgot the congrats and well deserved

Congrats, very nice ring. A virgin beach in NJ with pulltabs galore? You are one lucky guy.

hahahaha I forgot to mention . . . I think it's hideous!!! Yeah I was shocked that there were so many pull tabs, the old school pull tabs even . . . I'm going back on Friday :) Thanks for the congrats all. I'm digging this hobby - literally!!

I am in nj as well and also somewhat of a newbie. Still looking for my first ring. Even if it is ugly as long as its gold I don't care

Kmatch I'm in Little Egg Harbor. Exit 50 on parkway

congrats.

Thanks! I thought the mother may have "accidentally" left it behind ha ha, I'll keep it since it was first really cool find.

Ok I am in glassboro area now near rowan university. My parents have a little bungalow in lbi. So I am really looking forward to my first summer being serious about metal detecting.

Cool we should meet up for a hunt this summer. I've hunted the beach there in December but now they put new sand down so it's all clean.
