First Gold- Wish it was not 18k electro plate

Hit my first ring during a park hunt yesterday. I was so excited because it was so heavy. (7 grams) . My vision is poor so I saw the hallmark but could not make it out and I wanted to ignore its costume jewelry appearance. I hated to look at the hallmark later with my jewelers loop and see that it was 18k electroplated. Just above costume jewelery as near as I can tell. Still the temporary excitement made the mornings hunt a bit nicer than the few coins I found to that point.

As the saying goes "it's not about having the treasure, it's about finding the treasure". I find those words to be true. I'm always anxious to move on to the next hunt.

I second what tjhoosier said.

The important thing is that you were able to pull that ring up. The number of non precious metal rings that I find is pretty high compared to gold or silver one that I find so I always look at it as you are one step closer to finding that gold or silver ring.

Before too long you'll end up with a box full of these types of finds but sitiing right next to them in the box will be a few winners.

Have fun!
