A friend called me and said his fiancé had lost her 14k half carat diamond engagement ring. When I got to his house He said that I probably would not be able to find it,because where she lost it was a old house place. That had about a million crushed cans and about ten million nails .I laughed and told him He would have the ring back in five minutes. I went to my truck and got my old fateful Golden Sabre 2 with five inch coil out,I knew it would be up to the task .Fist signal was big and harsh (crushed beer can)then ten more that sounded the same that I did not dig. Then I got a smother high tone (aluminum siding)ten more crushed can sounds. Then I got the sweet smooth round low tone that is just about always a nickel or a ring with a Tesoro. I puled back the grass felt it with my finger did not even look just piked it up and handed to my friend he laughed and said you know it took you longer than five minutes it took six. I love my old Golden Sabre 2

That's a good looking ring .congrats!

it feels so good returning a wedding ring, l have had that pleasure one also, good job.

maybe next time she loses it make it in a bit more of a friendly environment  and she will, lose it once it will go again !!

its not all about having the best detector is it  well done but reality is it took how long to find? how many hrs you got on the machine

people think detecting is easy they haven't done it or are lying lot of time and effort goes in to learning these tools.

again well done.

Know your glow very well as still using my 1985 Golden Sabre, even yesterday. Great way to spend my 66th. Looks like it will outlast me after complete FREE rebuild 5 years ago. GREAT ring and our ol'school kicks new hi tech righteously in results-go get some more-John:detecting:

Nice ring there pulltabber...did you get to hunt the rest of the yard?

amberjack: I really did find it in six minutes.I girded off a 20 x 20 area and hit it from two directions east to west and then north south got it on my second pass n/s.As for hours with that detector,I got it new in 1992 or 93 so I have about 2000 hours on it and 48 gold rings and over 100 silver rings.I have had a lot of detectors over the years and may get a few more before I die , but I will always keep my Golden Sabre 2

That's awesome!! So that machine has multiple tones? Or did you mean the same tone but just subtle differences in how it sounded?
Thanks

It has two tones and notch.I always hunt with notch off and set to give high tone on a penny and above and low tone pull-tab down. But there are subtle differences with a lot of information for your ears

Hmm I like the way that detector is.
Maybe I'll keep an eye out for one

I will take that any day, nice going
