First go at a curb strip

I've been knocking around the idea of doing some curb strip hunting, and since I had an hour or two I decided to go for it. I had scoped out a good possible spot in front of a vacant house in a older area of town. Before swinging I knocked on the doors of the houses on both sides of the vacant house. I was just going to be courteous and let them know why I was there, and also ask if they minded if I hunted in front of their houses as well. No luck though as there was no answer at either house.
With only about an hour of daylight left I had at it. Used the little 6'', sens around 25, IM and just paid attention to the higher tones. An hour later I had 3 wheats, a '43 Canadian penny (a heart stopper because I thought it was an IH at first), and a bunch of clad. I also found a jack (not for raising a car, but for playing on the sidewalk). Thought this was a cool find as I could imagine the kids playing on the sidewalk 50 years ago and losing it.
A good hunt considering the small space I was detecting and the short time period.

I'll definitely be hitting some more strips.

Nice going.:clapping: Those strips are excellent places to detect and with those wheaties you got, there's gotta to be some silver there someplace. HH.

A lot of stuff gets dropped getting in and out of a parked car. In the snow states those plows throw it up out of the way. They get trashy but worked slow enough can produce good coins. Ive also found around large parking areas, especially old establishments, where they push snow in the winter is pretty good producers. Better hurry thou they are using more street sweepers now days. Dont over look new side walk work either they can really pay off. You would be surprised whats under them.
