First Full Year with SE Pro

Last March I bought a near new SE Pro from Bart. I hunted I guess roughly the same hours with it as I did the previous year with my AT Pro. In 2012 I ended up with 70 silver and 209 wheat pennies and 12 IH. This year I had 91 silver, 321 wheats and 24 IH and my first gold ring. Not only that but many of the coins I got much of the silver at the same places where I hunted with the AT Pro. I used my 8x6 SEF coil about 75% of the time. Very impressed with the SE Pro, but I also have a good back-up machine. Ground in Nebraska is frozen now, but what a year it was. Looking forward to researching now for next year.

New to this, hope it works, Pastor Bob, at what point/experience level did you start tweaking the factory defaults? I haven't reached that point as yet...with the exception of sensitivity and threshold settings. I'm having problems with the multitude of sounds and how to interpret them along with the numbers trying to decide to dig what may be pull tables or something good. Thanks, Dave

Dave, I changed the settings after I read Andy Sabisch's book on the Explorer. I run my unit at Auto-Sens at 26, Iron Mask is at 22. Gain at 9. Fast on, Deep off. Threshold baily audible. I learned to start relying more on sound tan numbers. If I get a high tone one way and then 90 degrees the other way I dig everything. Go slow and you will get the ones others miss.

nice finds on the silver and the pennies.the se pro is a great machine thats why as soon as i can im gonna buy me another one. where i live the se pro is all i need, hope you good hunting for next year.

Nice on both years, Pastor Bob! It is hard to know how to factor the effect of improved skills in the equation of improved tools. I guess subjective impression is allowable since this is not for a grade. I enjoy my SE Pro, almost exclusively using the Pro coil, I did have a WOT and spent too much time PPing. I have a SunRay X5 and really need to spend more time with it. I have too many other machines and so I am learning more wide than deep so to speak.
Best of success in 2014!
Pastor Tom in CA
