First Full Day With ID Excel

I had a vacation day today so my hunting partner and myself took a road trip to a county fairgrounds about an hour away. I was going to take both of my detectors( Id excel and DFX), but his door is broke on his vanso I didn't risk leaving one of my detectors in an unlocked vehicle. At the last minute, I had to make a decision, dfx or id excel. I knew we would be in extreme trash so I took the excel and it proved to be a good choice. The ground was littered with pulltabs and bud lite bottle caps and the first target proved to be a 1938 wheat. I hunted slow and thorough and the target responce was unbelievelable. I used the disc at 0 and the sens at 8. I was running it wide open and there was trash out the ying yang. Low tones mixed with high tones inches apart. I ended up with 75 coins, ten wheats, one merc, one buffalo, and a standing liberty half. The half came from at least nine inches and rang in like it was two inches deep! I did notice one particular id number indicator with the wheats. They initially read 19 to 21 vdi's and I thought they were zincs until I opened the hole up where they jumped to higher 20's vdi numbers. Most of the wheats came from 6 to 7 inches deep. If anyone is looking for a mid priced detector, try the ID excel, it is an awesome detector for the money. I have seen them used for slightly under 300 dollars and at this price, you are getting a detector that will rival 800.00 to 900.00 detectors. Also, it is light and very easy to swing for hours on end. Just my two cents worth. R.L. Johnson
