First four months with the Vaq

I love this detector. This machine is easy to work. I am learning to decipher its language and it gets easier each time out. What I come to love more than anything is the fade signal. It will hit a smooth sounding low,and weak tone then as I slowly start upping the discriminator the tone just fades away.Sometimes slowly sometimes quickly. Ive had Indian head pennies that fade away at or below nickle. It makes no difference. That signal is getting dug 100% of the time. Often it will be a bullet but Ive pulled some deep coins that away. Coins that I probably ignore with my digital machine. A lot of trash abruptly stops but those deep dimes and pennies usually dont.Man , I hope to hit some deep quarters soon , just to hear them . My first two machines lasted me thirty years combined . In four months with the Vaq, I am way more advanced than I was with the other units. This is a serious machine.

I'm still learning the V's language myself and enjoying every second with this great detector. It's sounds are not nearly as easy to learn as the Silver

I too just bought the V and I personally am extremely impressed at how easy it is to learn the junk from the good stuff. A nice abrupt signal that is repeatable from different directions is sweet and then the pinpoint gives me the go ahead or not. When you pinpoint a coin with this it is unmistakeable. Depth is nothing short of amazing! Today I found some of the smallest of things at 6 to 7 inches and I still had a good sound in my ears, it was not as loud but easily heard. Nickels are a treat for me, so easy to tell what they are. If I am not sure what it is I can turn the Disc knob which is spot on. Can you tell I am lovin the V? I am only using the stock coil but am curious about the DD coils. Any comments on any of those?

I still have trouble identifying nickles. Ive been searching in an area where there use to be a lot of hunting. Shotgun shells and nickles sound the same to me.

Jeff, I can't tell you anything about the DD coils, but the 5" con is a great addition for trashy areas(great seperation) and when coupled with the fast retune of the V its amazing. Another plus, since it is not spoked it doesn't hang up on vines, etc, in brushy areas. The 5" is right in there with the stock coil on depth also.

I am fortunate to not have come across any shotgun shells but I bet that would make it very hard to discern nickels.
